The process ... how to complete your quest
Read this carefully... it will help you complete your task...
Roles for each of the team members
There are three members in your elite team of leaders. All
of you are on a quest to become grand masters and specialists in a martial
art that your team will select from a list of several possible choices.
Each of you has special skills and will be in charge of a particular
aspect of the martial art that you research. Through your quest you will
change from being a simple tribal leader into a grand master of the tribal
martial art.
You will each be assigned a role to gain knowledge about three distinct aspects of the one martial art. Here are the roles you will play in your teams:
Wisdom and learning master
- Origins & History of the martial art your team selects
- Cultural aspects and the lifestyle of people who practice this martial art
- Famous people and individuals associated with your martial art
- Specific instructions for the Wisdom and Learning master
- Levels and ranks that can be achieved (belt colors etc.) for this martial art
- Examples of some of the stances and positions this martial art teaches
- Competitions where people can practice their skills in this martial art
- Specific instructions for the Teaching Master
- Weapons (if any) used in this martial art. If no weapons are used, what special techniques does this martial art promote?
- Where to learn more about this martial art?
- Styles of combat for this martial art
- Specific instructions for the Weapons and Combat master
The steps to success
During a tribal council meeting the tribal chief will put each person in the tribe into a tribal masters group. The groups of tribal masters then choose one martial art to seek knowledge about in the world at large. Here are the steps:
- The tribal council (your class) meets
- The tribal chief puts each person into a team of three tribal masters
- Each team chooses one martial art to learn about
- The teams research the martial art they have chosen. As tribal masters you must be aware that just because information is found on the internet does not mean it is accurate or factual. Like all information we gather each of you must ask critical questions about the sources of all your information. The tribal chief has provided a list of wise suggestions to help you with this.
- The teams present their knowledge to the tribal council. The tribal council and tribal chief have very particular expectations about the presentation which you can see here in the tribal council judegement guide. You can also find lots of ideas to get you started there.
- The tribal chief gives rewards (marks) to the teams and team members. The tribal chief is wise and fair and gives rewards (marks) based on the chief’s judgement guide.
